David Wehle is the lone-wolf developer of The First Tree who also created Home is Where One Starts. The First Tree is set to be released to PC and Mac September 14, 2017.
The First Tree is a beautiful third-person exploration game following two parallel stories: a fox trying to find her missing family, and a young couple dealing with a tragedy in theirs. As a player, you “take control of the fox on a poignant and beautiful journey that crescendos at the source of life, and perhaps results in the understanding of death.” While playing you can discover “artifacts and stories from the young couple’s life as they too become intertwined in the fox’s journey towards The First Tree.” The total play time is about an hour and a half or so, which runs on the short side, but this is a beautiful game that will take you on a journey through a beautiful world with a stunning storyline.
Fans of Journey, Gone Home, and Firewatch will likely be fans of The First Tree according to Wehle. Additionally, the price of this game has not been set yet but expected to be about $20 or so. Put it on your wish list or sign up for their one-time email here: The First Tree.
