In this article, we are going to show you how to trade for the best defensive line in Madden 22. We didn’t want this list to be just the highest overall players possible to where you would either give up too much, struggle trading for them, or that it would hinder your ability to rebuild more than just the defensive line.

We wanted to think about player talent, player costs, and potential growth in conjunction with one another. The defensive line is in our opinion the most important part of a defense. We also wanted this list to include both User play and Simulation leagues.

Creating havoc for an offense starts with the D-line, pressuring QBs, gettings sacks, and disrupting the run is how kings get their crowns. It is also only a microcosm of the entire defense so we do not believe that it should be the only thing that the defense has.

This is why we wanted to provide a solid defensive line that fits the following quality conditions that we look for. These conditions are straight forward and we are very strict with following these set conditions.

  1. Youthfulness, they must be able to grow into your system without the fear of near future regression.
  2. Cost effective, they must be somewhat easy to sign without becoming such a finacial anchor that your franchise becomes finacially weak.
  3. These players must pass the trait and talent test.
  4. Players must also be feasable to trade for in a realistic setting for those who want to stick with a more realistic Madden ideology.

We also didn’t want this list to include our Madden 22 Trade Glitch, just in case you are in a league where that is not allowed.

Also, we wanted to maintain the ability to have growth in other positions by not eliminating too many weapons or draft picks from your team in order to provide you with such a defensive line.

We will also provide you with enough options for you to have a 3-4 or 4-3 defensive playstyle. We want this list to work for your own personal needs and not have your personal needs changed.

These players also fit our best playbooks for Madden 22 in simulation and for those who do not do simulation leagues.

#1 Jeffrey Simmons (RE)

Jeffrey Simmons is almost perfect for a multitude of defensive varieties. He can play anywhere on the defensive line and still be effective. He is also easy to trade for.

To trade for Jeffrey Simmons you will need a 2nd Rd 2022 draft pick, a (yellow) medium interest HB, and a 6th or 7th 2023 draft pick. Once you trade for Simmons we recommend moving him to DT.

#2 Rashan Gary (LOLB)

Rashan Gary is another player that can be used in a variety of situations and still be effective.

To trade for Rashan Gary, use a medium interest (yellow) HB, a high interest (Green) LT, and a 4th round pick

#3 Josh Allen (ROLB)

Josh Allen is a great player that can play on the defensive line and play at the linebacker position. He is big strong and has a solid development.

To trade for Josh Allen, use a Center that shows high (green) interest that is a lower overall and a LOLB around 70 overall that shows low (red) interest, and a 5th Rd 2022.

#4 Dexter Lawerence II (LE)

Dexter Lawerence is a great DT and can be a sleeper backup or a solid 2nd DT in a 4-3 defensive scheme.

To trade for Dexter Lawerence II, use a QB medium (yellow) interest and a 6th or 7th round pick.
