Should you play Madden NFL 22 for PC over console? You may have grown up playing Madden on console but your main preference is PC.
Well, Madden has been out on PC for a couple of years now and we have played it. We grew up playing console just as most people out there have.
Since we grew up playing Madden on console we expected Madden to perform much better on PC. EA has been creating/publishing PC games for years so they understand that performance can be better on PC. Is that the case since next-gen consoles are now just about as powerful as some PCs?
Another thing I will go over is the standard keybindings for all PC games that EA has completely brushed off. Unfortunately, EA never added settings to change the U.I. keybindings for PC.
Moreover, console is the most widely used go-to gaming system out there. The new next-gen consoles are now just as powerful as a lot of PCs.
So which is better between playing Madden 22 on console vs Madden 22 on PC? Let us know your experience in the comments below.
Madden 22 on Next-Gen Consoles
Madden 22 Next-Gen Graphics
The graphics usually get better year after year in Madden. However, there is not a huge difference in graphics from Xbox One to Xbox Series X or PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5.
They showcased the fans and they look pretty good on next-gen consoles.
However, the gameplay graphics are better like usual but it just seems like it’s just the same old Madden. Nothing too impressive here.
The most noticeable change is the shading. Shaders can turn a pixel game, such as Minecraft, into a thing of beauty.
If you check out EricRayweather’s YouTube video on the changes between Madden 22 on last-gen vs next-gen, it will give a pretty good picture of what has changed.
Overall, there is a lack of attention EA has given to getting the most out of your next-gen console. This is unfortunate, especially with all of the bugs fans have been running into AND we do not get to take advantage of the expensive next-gen console’s abilities.

Madden 22 Next-Gen Performance
Madden 22 on the next-gen console is… Well… Unfortunately, about the same performance as the Xbox One or PS4.
You must be thinking, “Tug, there at least has to be a difference in load time though, am I right?” And I will tell you that is exactly what we thought here at Tips4Gamers.
That said, there actually are improvements in the loading of your franchise, the week-by-week simulation, and loading into a game. However, these are not crazy fast improvements, but they are faster.
As a side note, the user interface (UI) for Madden 22 is different than the other Madden’s. Not just in decoration like EA does for every Madden.
More specifically, EA has changed where their settings are located. They made certain things a bit easier along with some feature additions, which is a subject for another article.
All in all, Madden 22 on the Next-Gen consoles is not impressive by any means.
Madden 22 on PC
I grew up playing games on console. I First started out with Nintendo 64, then moved onto Sega Saturn (have you heard of it?) to PlayStation 1 and 2, and finally, Xbox and never turned back.
I have now been gaming on PC for four years and counting. It is just a better experience for the most part.
If you have ever upgraded your bootable hard drive from an HDD to an SSD then you know there is a huge performance boost. You basically gave your PC an injection of performance-enhancing drugs.
It will start up faster, read and write faster, and your programs/games will open… Well, faster.
Is this the same case when going from the next-gen console to PC?
Short answer: no, there are zero differences in performance or graphics. EA is catering to the next-gen consoles. Let us know how you feel about that.
Also, the keybindings are frustrating as well with no choice to change them.
Madden 22 PC Graphics
You would expect the graphics to be better on PC. The higher-end PCs can handle the better graphics, but since next-gen consoles are essentially a PC, that is not always going to be the case.
That said, Madden 22 on PC is the exact same as Madden 22 on last-gen consoles. Only the current-gen consoles are receiving the love of the new and improved shaders as well as the new Super Bowl and pre-game presentations.
Basically, Madden 21 and Madden 22 are the same but with an upgrade to the U.I.
Madden 22 PC Performance
Performance is key here. Prior Madden’s were always slow and have not been smooth when transitioning to a different menu or heading into a game.
Unfortunately, I did not notice a difference in any load times in comparison to Madden 21. In fact, Madden 22 on our Xbox Series X console was better. Not by much, but it was better.
Other Thoughts
If you are transitioning from console to PC then you will need to get used to the mechanics of the gameplay. It is strange moving your player with the mouse instead of the WASD or arrow keys.
EA has been creating PC games for years so they are well aware of the standard keybindings. ESC is for exiting a menu or opening up the menu. ESC is short for escape after all. And the backspace is for, well, nothing I have ever seen.
Every game I have played has implemented the ESC key for, you guessed it, to exit/open a menu. So why didn’t EA get that memo?
This has been my biggest issue. The ESC key is a lot easier to cancel than the backspace. The fact that I cannot change this keybind is even more frustrating.
So what do they use the ESC key for? That is a very interesting question with a more curious answer… To submit a trade.
You may be just as confused as I am. Dear EA, please allow us PC users to change our keybindings for the U.I.
This is just EA being lazy. I feel like EA lazily threw Madden up on PC and copied and pasted the last-gen console version and changed the controls.
Will Madden 22 be next-gen on PC? No, it will not, unfortunately. If anything changes I will make sure to update this article.
This is the end of my rant and comparing Madden 22 from last-gen to current-gen and PC. I hope you enjoyed this article. If you have any thoughts then leave them in the comments below! I will read and respond to every comment.
