Each Madden has certain aspects to it, and if you pick up on them you can utilize them and win a lot of games. Remember, Madden was made by humans and humans tend to make mistakes. Electronic Arts (EA) will always try to make Madden as real as possible, but they are nowhere close yet. Utilize both of these aspects: the real aspects and the fake aspects.
The real aspect of Madden would be that players get tired. It does not matter if they have 99 stamina, they will eventually get tired. The best way to score on a high overall player with an average player would be to go against a tired high overall player. Furthermore, subbing TE’s with second or third string tackles when you know you are running will save energy for some of your guys while forcing the defense to use theirs. This is only a small sample, but this is the thought process you need to be thinking about. The majority of the time most people will not know if you subbed out a TE and the computer is not programmed to care.
The fake aspects of Madden are another thing to look for. One fake aspect would be being caught dead to rights and still juke out of it by simply timing it correctly. Another aspect of Madden being unrealistic would be they cannot catch on. What we mean is if you run a play that works every time, no matter the coverage, they still will not predict where you are going even though it is obvious. Also, if you are playing a user this may cause them to have to try and manually cover your player, which almost never works. They may also try and double cover that player, which means they left another area on the field exposed for you to capitalize on. If they go back to their regular coverage after you capitalized on them running double coverage or trying to manually cover your go-to guy, just simply go back to the same play you were running that the computer/user could not stop.
Remember, the user can only be one player at a time, which leaves 10 robots on the field. Look at it this way, you do not have to beat the user when playing users, you still have to beat the computer. The user calls a play and hopes the computer does its job. This works on both sides of the ball. Once a user starts calling plays out of frustration that they are not comfortable with, you now have the upper hand.
Additionally, a passing play the computer or users can almost never stop if utilized correctly is the Go Y’s Shake as shown in the picture. The computer will always leave at least one player open every time. The two slot receivers and the TE are the ones to look to throw to. Always be looking for two ways to trick the computer. The computer can almost never cover a zig route from your TE. The computer – no matter the difficulty – struggles against a heavy blitz so look to blitz on 1st and 2nd downs. The Madden 18 system is not geared for only the run or only the pass like previous Madden’s, and they still haven’t been able to make it realistic yet so remember that.
