In this article, we are going to be breaking down the big question, “What are the best Superstar Abilities for QB in Madden 22?”
Madden 22 Superstar Abilities for QB—or any other position for that matter—are one of the very few areas of Madden where it matters for both user-play and simulation leagues.
The best Superstar Abilities for QB in Madden 22 can turn a simple 99 overall into a legendary 99 overall. We will cover Abilities for both user-play and simulation leagues.
Just to note, some of the following Superstar Abilities for simulation and user-play will be the same. Now let’s jump into this.

Best Superstar X-Factor Abilities for QB Madden 22 | Simulation
The abilities best suited for simulation are abilities that we used in our Falcons Rebuild where we scored 100 points in simulation. If you have not seen it yet you should check that out – Rebuilding the Atlanta Falcons Madden 22 Franchise Mode #1.
The first ability we would recommend for simulation is the “Pro Reads” ability.
For great quarterbacks; vision and anticipation are paramount. When they enter the zone; their first open receiver is highlighted and the ignore defensive pressure.
✔ Make consecutive passes for 5+ yards in air
Pro Reads
✖ Don’t take sacks
The reason “Pro Reads” is great for simulation is because usually, QBs tend to hold onto the ball for a ridiculous amount of time. This causes them to back peddle and back peddle until they back peddle home. Just like Forrest Gump but the good ol’ back peddle instead. Pretty accurate, right?
That said, “Pro Reads” prevents your QB from getting sacked like he would if he didn’t have this ability. Instead of back peddling until he is sack lunch, he’ll get the ball away.
Best Superstar Abilities for QB Madden 22 (Slots) | Simulation
#1 Quick Draw
For your first Superstar Ability slot for simulation leagues, we would recommend “Quick Draw”.
Passers with this ability have faster passing animation when they are throwing under pressure.
Quick Draw
“Quick Draw” is a great one, especially when paired with our Best Throwing Styles/Animations in Madden 22.
In that best throwing styles/animations tutorial, we go over the quickest animation. If you pair that with “Quick Draw”, you will be able to avoid potential sacks, which is very important especially in simulated games.
#2 Closer
For your second Superstar Ability slot for simulation leagues, we would recommend “Closer”.
Locker room pep talks go a long way. Players with this ability can easily enter the zone in the 2nd half.
Closer
The reason we would recommend this for simulation leagues is that you have no control over gameplay in a simulation league. And in simulation, “Closer” is a nightmare for defenders allowing you to enter the zone in the 2nd half… The most important part of the game.
#3 Pass Lead Elite
For your third Superstar Ability slot for simulation leagues, we would recommend “Pass Lead Elite”.
Passers with this ability have increase throw power on bullet precision passes (except on high/low throws).
Pass Lead Elite
This is pretty much a no-brainer as explained in more detail in our video tutorial above.
There is another ability that Madden put in that is just like this, “Set Feet Lead”. However, your feet need to be set in order to have an increase in throw power on bullet precision passes.
No one should ever choose that one, since it does not make a whole lot of sense when you can do the same thing without your feet being set.
This is the best choice
#4 Gunslinger/Comeback/Long Range Deadeye
Your fourth Superstar Ability slot for simulation leagues, we recommend “Gunslinger”.
Passers with this ability have faster passing animations and increased velocity on bullet passes.
Gunslinger
The reason we recommend this for simulation is that you have no control over your QB in simulation and QBs love to take sacks. So help your QB out in avoiding sacks and making it virtually impossible to take him down.
We also would recommend “Comeback” as an alternate option.
When playing from behind; players with this ability can easily enter the Zone.
Comeback
We never want to play a game and come back from behind; that is never a good thing but it happens. “Comeback” is great for those situations and can really help you out of a bind.
The final recommendation for your fourth slot would be “Long Range Deadeye”.
Passers with this ability have perfect accuracy on all deep throws while their feet are set (except on high/low throws).
Long Range Deadeye
Perfect accuracy on deep throws is a great ability to have. However, the only caveat to this is your feet have to be set. If you’re QB is running outside of the pocket a lot then getting his feet set will be a little difficult to accomplish.
Look over these three abilities and choose the one that best fits your style.
#5 Protected
Out of all of the abilities for slot 5, we highly recommend “Protected”.
Passers with this ability receive better pass blocking from their offensive linemen.
Protected
With all of our other abilities and tips we provide, protected would be the cherry on top. Pass protection is key to avoiding sacks and giving your receivers more time to run their routes, especially when playing against stout defensive linemen.
NOTE: We would also recommend using our Best Playbooks and Schemes for Simulation in Madden 22 to pair with these abilities to maximize your Madden 22 Franchise Mode success. With those playbooks and schemes, you will be able to score up to 100 points fairly easily.
Best Superstar X-Factor Abilities for QB Madden 22 | User-Play
With user-play, there is obviously a little more wiggle room because—most likely—you are user-playing with the QB. This opens the door to other options for abilities that we will go over in this section.
The best Superstar X-Factor Ability for QB in Madden 22 Franchise Mode is “Omaha”.
Elite quarterbacks are molded by endless hours of film study. When they enter the zone, they have full vision of the secondary’s defensive coverage before the snap.
✔ Complete consecutive passes
Omaha
✖ Don’t throw incompletions
The reason we would recommend this is because it is easy to complete consecutive passes. Unlike others, you do not have to worry about bombing down the field in order to activate your X-Factor ability…you can just play your offense.
Best Superstar Abilities for QB Madden 22 (Slots) | User-Play
#1 Quick Draw
For your first Superstar Ability slot for user-play leagues, we would recommend “Quick Draw”.
Passers with this ability have faster passing animation when they are throwing under pressure.
Quick Draw
Just as stated in simulation, “Quick Draw” is a great one, especially when paired with our Best Throwing Styles/Animations in Madden 22.
In that best throwing styles/animations tutorial, we go over the quickest animation. If you pair that with “Quick Draw”, you will be able to avoid potential sacks, which is very important especially in simulated games.
When you user-play, you have much more control over your throwing. If you are being pressured as a user, then you will be simply setting yourself up for success.
#2 Closer or Pocket Deadeye
For your second Superstar Ability slot for user-play leagues, we would recommend “Closer”. You cannot go wrong with “Pocket Deadeye” either; this is our close second.
Locker room pep talks go a long way. Players with this ability can easily enter the zone in the 2nd half.
Closer
Passers with this ability have perfect accuracy on all undpressured throws while their feet are set in the pocket (except on high/low throws).
Pocket Deadeye
You cannot go wrong with either of those abilities above in a user-play league. You have complete control over gameplay and when your QB is feeling hot these two abilities will go a long way.
#3 Pass Lead Elite
This is going to be the same recommendation as it is for simulation.
#4 Gunslinger/Long Range Deadeye
Your fourth Superstar Ability slot for user-play leagues, we recommend “Gunslinger”.
Passers with this ability have faster passing animations and increased velocity on bullet passes.
Gunslinger
“Gunslinger” is something we recommend for people who are user-controlling their QB.
Anything you can do to get that ball out of your hands even faster is the way to go. It will be much harder for the defense to get sacks and tally up their stats.
Another ability we would recommend is “Long Range Deadeye”.
Passers with this ability have perfect accuracy on all deep throws while their feet are set (except on high/low throws).
Long Range Deadeye
This is great to have if you user-play with your QB and love to throw it deep. Just keep in mind that your feet have to be set in order to accomplish this. That will be the only downside and it could be a big one at that.
#5 Protected
For slot 5 of your Superstar Ability for user-play, we recommend “Protected”.
Passers with this ability receive better pass blocking from their offensive linemen.
Protected
If you user-control your QB, better pass protection is key to give you the time you need to find the open receiver. When this is combined with the other tips we provide in any of the links on this page, you will be able to get the ball out of your hands faster along with giving you time in the pocket to make the best decisions.
