This is a complete Idle High School Tycoon guide. I am going to cover the study bonus, how to make more money, the proper way to go about upgrading your school, and much more.

I wrote an article about the issue with idle games and Idle High School Tycoon is a great idle game that does not restrict you from going at your own pace, unlike Codigames.

They touch on some major topics I talked about in that article. You can watch ads to speed up the time to build essentially making the build time non-existent. However, you only get to knock off 2 hours before being restricted for a one-hour cooldown. Nonetheless, it is much better than actually waiting the allotted time.

You also can watch ads to double your profits for 30 minutes per ad, which is a great amount of time in comparison to the standard 15-minutes.

Kolibri Games really did a great job on Idle High School Tycoon for the most part. However, I was reading through some of the reviews and found that the offline earnings are lacking.

I can confirm that the offline earnings only max out at two hours. This is way too little but I can understand why they do this.

For one, you could be offline for days then log back in and you now have tens of thousands of game currency. This will allow you to beat the game in no time at all. There does need to be a balance.

However, two hours is clearly not enough time. This needs to be increased.

Now that that’s out of the way, let’s dive into this.

Idle High School Tycoon Study Bonus

Have you ever wondered what the student’s happiness has to do with anything? Same here; I have found the answer.

The student’s happiness affects the study bonus. The more you upgrade the bathroom, cafeteria, and hallway, the more the student’s happiness will increase, which will lead to an increase in the study bonus.

Another thing that is directly related to a student’s happiness is the teacher. You will see that each teacher has a Happiness rating, which ensures that the students’ will either lose more or less Happiness. The higher the rating the better.

What is the study bonus for? The Study Bonus increases the knowledge of the students.

During class, you will see different color arrows above each student’s head. You will also see the study bonus decrease or increase in real-time. Your goal is to keep the student’s happiness high to make sure your student’s knowledge stays high. This will directly impact your Subject Scores in your daily Exam Results.

Furthermore, keep in mind that your study bonus will go up and down even if everything is fully upgraded. The teacher’s Happiness rating is your final task.

Idle High School Tycoon Reputation

Reputation is important to prestige your school to make it to five stars; it is also important to build more classes and earn more money.

This is a bit tricky but I have found a way to make it easier without spending any money. It will take longer as it is an RNG—Random Number Generator. You will also need a perfect 100 for each category in order to reach the 600 for the first prestige.

You will see the Reputation increase and decrease. It can be confusing and frustrating. Sometimes the students do well one day in the Exams then have a bad day the next.

The first thing you want to do is hire teachers then assign the teacher to the class they’re stronger at. The higher the number (0-10), the more knowledge your students will gain, and this contributes to your reputation.

You will get an Exam report every day and you will see those numbers decrease one day then increase the next. Your teacher’s knowledge controls this.

Start by hiring three teachers—you are only allowed to hire three a day. Replace the other teacher(s) with the better teacher(s) you hired. This will get you closer to a perfect rating.

You also earn Gems through Missions among other things. Use some gems to hire one teacher that you need. Do not waste it on a class you already have a teacher that has a 7+ rating in that specific knowledge tree, for example, Literature.

Then, go to your weakest teacher’s classroom and buy the Premium Upgrade using your Gems. This will increase the knowledge for the weakest class acting as a buffer.

Then, continue hiring teachers day by day until you can reach that perfect score.

Idle High School Tycoon Knowledge

If you would like to increase the knowledge of the students then make sure to assign a teacher to the appropriate class.

This is important to understand and goes hand-in-hand with Reputation so make sure to read that over as well if you would like to get closer to prestige.

You can pay to hire a teacher—a max of 3 per day—and each teacher specializes in a category—math, science, art, history, music, or literature—and also has a happiness rating, which I went over in the Study Bonus.

The photo above shows the teacher’s match by highlighting the knowledge associated with the classroom. This is a great matchup and our Exam Results will almost be a perfect 100 as you can see in the screenshot below:

Idle High School Tycoon How to Get Five Stars

You can earn five stars for both high schools by choosing to prestige. It is as simple as that.

Idle High School Tycoon How to Earn Money

There are several ways to make money in Idle High School Tycoon. I will cover each one of those in detail.

One thing I do want to go over is when you see an increase in pay. Your students will graduate and that number (Reputation) will increase as it should.

As the graduation number increases, you will be able to build new classrooms, prestige, and move on to the next high school. Make sure to read our section on Reputation so that you fully understand that number.

The graduation number also contributes to your revenue. At the end of each day, you will get the Exam Results. At the very bottom right, you will see the next Funding increase will be at a certain amount of graduates. That is when your next increase in funds will be.

The more classrooms you have, the faster that graduate number will increase; there is a cap to it if you’re not careful so read our Reputation section to find out how to increase it.

Now let’s dive into this.

Classrooms

The first thing you need to understand is what exactly funds your school. Once you figure this out then you will be able to focus your upgrades more specifically to earn more money in Idle High School Tycoon. However, you do not earn a lot of money.

So what exactly funds your school? It’s definitely not the student’s happiness; it’s the reputation that increases your revenue.

The more you upgrade your classrooms the higher your reputation will be. When you add more classrooms, your reputation will increase. In return, you’ll earn more money the further you upgrade your classrooms as well as expand your high school.

I have been trying to figure out what exactly the student’s happiness has to do with anything. So I focused on upgrading the cafeteria, hallway, and bathroom. I have concluded that happiness does indeed tie in with revenue. You’ll find out more in the Idle High School Tycoon Study Bonus topic.

Ad Boost

The boost will double your revenue. You do not make much even when you are further along in the game. Boost will help, so make sure to enable it.

In most idle games I have played, the boost—or x2—only lasts for 10-15 minutes. This is not the case with Idle High School Tycoon. You will get 30-minutes total, which is much easier to handle.

Permenant Boosts

You need to pay either $1.99 to always earn 30% More or $4.99 to always earn 70% more. Since you already make a very low amount of cash, the 70% more will be a pretty increase on top of the Boost as well as watching ads.

Watching Ads

You will get the opportunity to watch an ad to make money. Make sure you have boost enabled so you max out your profits.

Daily Rewards

Every time you log into the game you will get to claim a reward. Some are worth gems and others are worth cash. The cash reward is very low and I don’t know about you but it does not give me an incentive to log in every day.

Missions

The more you unlock and upgrade in your high school the more Missions you will complete. Missions will give you the opportunity to earn cash.

One by one it is not a lot but it will add up.

Pay Actual Money

You can buy gems and turn them into instant cash. $5 will give you about 15,000 in-game cash. This is not worth it since 15,000 will not upgrade much.

Overall, this is your choice, and if you have money to burn then perfect!

Idle High School Tycoon How to Earn More Gems

There are several ways to earn gems in Idle High School Tycoon.

One way involves the daily rewards. Another way is watching ads for rewards. Once you watch a certain amount of ads, you will earn gems.

You could also spend real-life money in the Shop to get gems.

What Should You Upgrade First?

When you are first starting out, you will want to pay more attention to your classrooms. Make sure to upgrade those fully before anything else as this is your money maker.

In regards to the student’s happiness, you can upgrade the Hallway, Bathroom, and Cafeteria. All of those play a role in happiness.

Out of those three options, you should first go after the Cafeteria. Then move onto the Bathroom and, finally, the Hallway.

The Hallway is so massive and it will cost you hundreds of thousands of cash to fully upgrade, so this will take you the longest.

The lockers will take you the longest to upgrade in the hallway. The lockers go all the way to level 45

Idle High School Tycoon Cheat: Make Hundreds of Thousands Cash

This game only allows a maximum of two hours of offline earnings, which can barely upgrade one item.

It’s really pathetic, to say the least, but there is a way you can earn hundreds of thousands of in-game cash. I made over 500K and fully upgraded my hallway, staff, and bought every decoration the game offers for cash.

This method does not involve any cheat codes. All you need to do is leave it on while you sleep. You’ll wake up to an astronomical amount of money.

Now, there are certain games out there, such as all games by Codigames, that will notice you are inactive. However, you will still make money in the background.

Kolibri Games may implement this in the future; you will still be able to make your cash in the background, though so there is no need to worry.
