Starting out theHunter: Call of the Wild, I thought it would be like every other hunting game, enjoyable but not quite taking the cake. However, this hunting game has peaked my curiosity and keeps me wanting to come back. I enjoy the graphics, sounds, soundtrack, and pretty much all this game has to offer.
This seems much more true to real life than most other hunting games. When tracking an animal after taking a shot you can see the rate at which the animal is bleeding. I really like this aspect and it made tracking exciting; you can even see how fast the animal was traveling. It can also be hard at times and put you to the test. Much like at night when I had my light off and couldn’t figure out how to turn the bastard back on for a few minutes. One more thing, the nature in theHunter: Call of the Wild is beautiful. I am talking the breathtaking views, the wind bristling through the trees and tall grass, hearing mating calls then being able to respond right back, and the birds chirping all around you.
With that being said, there are some things I found to be annoying but not enough to make me want to stop playing, such as the ATV. It is of endless supply apparently, and your ATV gets beat up quickly over objects a normal ATV would laugh at. Don’t worry though, you have 2 billion left that will come out of nowhere. The damn thing isn’t the easiest to drive either, nor is it rocket science. They could have made driving it a little easier, such as when you drive it in 1st person and look to your left or right it would then snap back into the forward position after you were done. Instead, your guy or gal will just keep looking left or right…wherever you left it. My guy will look left for the rest of his life unless I correct him…take some initiative, dude. By then I am fighting my view the whole damn time and would rather give up and go back to 3rd person. Another thing is the random people who attack you to steal your kill, I am starting to run out of knives…I’m just kidding, this doesn’t happen.
You also have to pay money to sleep, which I am not sure how I feel about and it is not super obvious that you slept. I think I might have paid a grand to sleep for one minute, I hope my guy really packed in a lot in that minute because now he can’t sleep for 2 years because I am broke. I will have to start hunting with a knife tied to the end of a large stick and sink my teeth into their neck like a lion because I can’t afford the ammo.
There is a lot to this game and so far it has been very cool. To the bear who I believe stole my kill, I hope the developers add a bazooka. I tracked that buck for 15 minutes at night, and I found the bear’s fresh poop near where my kill should have been.
